Participanti am sure this has been asked before probably in its hotpoint disguise but i will ask again so please bear with me.
i called out to this machine the heater was broken i fitted a new heater tested ok.
later on that day the customer phoned complaining of a loud noise, i called out today and it is making a loud vibration noise coming from the area of the motor, i tightened up every bolt and screw i could see but no joy.
the drum runs on pads at the front not the dreaded wheels and it is not rubbung on the backplate.
the drum shaft does not have the usual square bush but has an eliptical bush.
i am at a loss, it is just over a year old and it sounds terrible, worse when it reverses.
any help greatly appreciated.November 6, 2007 at 8:11 pm #233219eastlmark

would suggest its the fan on the front end of the motor. so flimsy its hard to believe they could make it that way.

yep I did one today, the fan was not broken but it was loose on the shaft and there was evidence of it hitting the fan housing. New fan cured the noise.

Yeah the front fans on these go elliptical abit in shape and make a hell of a noise also I’ve had a few where the rear fan comes loose as well when replacing these its important to get the clip on the right way….I’ll try to explain…if you get the split/cut in the fan spindle at 12 and 6 o’clock put the clip on so that it excerts its presure at 3 and 9 o’clock…Hope you understand what I mean ❗ ❗
