ParticipantApologies if this has been answered before, I have searched the forum back to Oct 06 (37 pages) with no success. I have a noisy dryer getting progressively noisier. Stripped it down and found one of the drum support bearings is goosed, (badly installed brass bearing bush). A direct replacement is no longer available from any web site, now being replaced by a ‘condenser bearing kit’ consisting of 4 off bearings (more like flat brackets), a belt and a rear bearing bush. Apparently no instructions are included with the spares as to how they should be fitted. Whilst I am reasonably confident I can work it out with the Dryer in bits I would appreciate any information/assistance which could be offered

There is only one brass bearing and that is the rear bearing bush, it is never badly installed but fails due to the type of belt drive now fitted to these machines. The ‘stretchy’ belts put severe strain on the rear bearing leading to early failure.
If you are referring to failure of the front drum support wheels then they have been superceded by the four bearing pads that have been fitted to Creda based machines for over 20 years.
They will slot into the front surround after the wheels have been removed and discarded.
PS. This is not an easy machine to work on, even for the experts, getting it back together will be an ‘experience’ for you. 😉

Participantactually jim, theres 2 different back bearings… ones square, the other one is a tear drop shape, incorporated into a new back panel
if you need the rear bearing, and its square, u can use the vented kit (previous p/no 1703080) that has the front pads , rear bearing (square).. front and rear seals, drum shaft and a bearing pin
not seen a lot of the teardrop bearings, but they are out there, trust me

I have seen a couple of teardrop bearing failures already. 😥
Reading the OP’s post he mentioned ‘one of the drum support bearings’ as opposed to the ‘rear bearing’, which caused me to think he was referring to the front wheels.

Participantgood call… at least the 1703080 kits has them all in, so thats the best option
it still allows you to remove the wheels, and fit front pads to the machine

Thanks for the reply’s. The brass bearing I refer to is the press in brass bush within the plastic drum support roller. At some point, either during manufacture or subsequent use the insert has deformed causing the drum to ‘chatter’ during operation as the roller is no longer concentric. I assume each of the two existing rollers are to be removed when the new parts are installed, what I would like to know is where each of the four ‘bearings are to be installed and where the belt is supposed to run
November 22, 2007 at 8:52 pm #235134helo_75
Participantthey fit in the front baffle, just above where the rollers are
if you look where the front lip of the drum runs, ull see 4 cut out with 2 holes in them, its easy to spot when u know how, and when u get the pads, you’ll see where thy fit
yes the wheels have to come off, and ull be amazed at how quiet it will be when theyre fitted, but its a PIG of a job getting it back together
unplug it, and wear good quality safety gloves if your gonna attempt it

Thanks helo_75, I have already had the machine fully stripped down due to an F-08 fault for full access to the PCB, thats how I found the problem. Forgive my ignorance, but after installation does the front of the drum locate into the four bearings? as such are the belt and Rear bearing superfluous

Participantno the supports clip into the front grey plastic baffle, the drum then sits ON the supports
its pretty obvious, since theholes are already there

I would definitely change the rear bearing, the belt is optional, it is not easy to get the old belt back on, the new one will be much harder to refit.
