An electrical retail store is powering its way out of a troubled spell.
PowerHouse, which had gone into administration, was bought by New Zealand-based Pacific Retail Group (PRG).
The new-look business was renamed New PowerHouse.
A store selling domestic appliances at Teesside Retail Park was retained but a second, two doors away, selling hi-fis, televisions and videos shut.
But due to customer demand, the white goods operation is now moving into the closed larger premises and expanding its stock to take in a “sound and vision” section.
Branch manager Dale Goodwin (pictured) said: “People kept asking for televisions and videos and we sell predominantly white goods.”
The move means that 13 staff – four of them Christmas temporary positions – are joining the nine-strong team.
Some of the recruits include those thrown out of work by the closure of the second Teesside Park store and by Northern Electrical Retail going into administration.
