Following on from yesterday’s news about Beko in Australia, this morning it would appear that Beko has indeed issued a formal recall notice on tumble dryers sold in the region in the face of pressure from media.
In a story this morning on Current.com.au it appears that a formal recall has been announced through the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) on a select number of Beko condenser tumble dryers. From what we can gather the recall is for the same reason as the recent recall issued on siniliar Beko tumble dryers here in the UK, a faulty capacitor that can present a fire risk in some cases.
The risk is not massively high but, as with any fire damage it can cause significant damage to property if the worst happens as was the case in this instance reported by the Daily Mail recently. If you have a Beko tumble dryer please make sure that you check if it is an affected model and, if it is an effected tumble dryer, please ensure that the remedial work is carried out as quickly as possible.
Please use the links above if you are at all concerned about your Beko tumble dryer and are located in Australia or New Zealand.
If you are in the UK and own a Beko tumble dryer that you are concerned about please see this new article for further help.
