Areclik, better known as Beko in the UK, has shut down its refrigeration plant in Rayon, Thailand as part of a program to reduce costs and improve efficiency due to shrinking demand.

Beko have scaled up their efforts to reduce waste by expanding the program that they have i operation to refurbish returned appliances.

Like virtually every single maker on the planet, Beko has launched what it’s calling AI-Driven appliances but we’ve pored over what we can find on it and we don’t see much “AI” going on here. 

Beko, which has taken on Whirlpool and its brands in its European markets, has closed the Cassinetta refrigeration design facility in Italy that has been in operation for over six decades.

Beko seem to be taking the notion of net zero and having less of an environmental impact pretty seriously and seems to be spending a lot on it. But, we can’t see much detail about the “refurbishment” that they speak of.

Beko has been named as the most sustainable appliance manufacturer in the world by Time Magazine beating out all other makers.

Beko (well, parent Koc Holdings) has acquired a 57% share of Singer Bangladesh and yes, it’s “that” Singer that hails from Glasgow and makes sewing machines. 

Beko has been named as Which?’s Best Value Appliance Brand for 2025, winning the award for the second year running.

Beko Europe has started production at it’s plant in Wrocław, Poland that we beleive was previously a Whirlpool facility before the merger of Beko and Whirlpool in Europe.

If you didn’t know it before, Beko has an app they call Homewhiz and they’ve updated it to include, guess what? Yup, AI they say.
