For those of us with long memories (read, old ones) will know that Hotpoint’s home for decades has been Morley Way in Peterborough and now, it’s Beko Europe.

As was asked by a few people when the Whirlpool/Beko deal was announced, “What will happen to the Yate tumble dryer factory?”, we may now know. It looks as if it’s likely to be closed down. 

LG has filed a lawsuit against Arçelik and its affiliates Beko and Grundig, alleging unlicensed use of its freezer door ice-making technology in a number of its refrigeration products sold in Europe.

Arcelik (better known as Beko here in Blighty) have invented a filtering system to try to prevent micro plastics from laundry entering the waste stream, preventing them from polluting.

Like a number of other traditionally large kitchen appliance manufacturers Beko has introduced a range of small kitchen appliances.

Beko has reportedly set its sights on significant growth by expanding into Asian Pacific and North American markets which is no surprise, we’ve seen it mention in dispatches but seems they are serious about it.

Beko have released a short video showing off what it envisages for the smart home of the future today and, it looks pretty cool.
