ParticipantHi All
I have just moved home and transported the fridge / Freezer layng down
what I didn,t know was that you are supposed to leave them off for 24 hrs , anyhow it worked for a day or so then the fridge stopped working , I was advised to turn it off for 24 hrs which I did and it worked for 2 days , turned it off again for 36 hours and it worked for a week , now it has gone again , I can here a clicking noise which was not there when it worked for a week ? basiccly do I need to replace it its a year old or can it be repaired, any help would be very much appreciated
have a great xmas and thanks
I have just had a look on the sticky fridge freezer problems
I presume the compressor may be faulty or I have a blockage
would it be cheaper to have repaired than buy a new one
Thanks againDecember 17, 2007 at 2:32 pm #237284helo_75
Participantoooh, tricky one
the clicking could be the compressor overworking, and its very possible the machine is now blocked and the compressors failing under an exceptionally heavy load
sometimes, if your lucky, blockages can be cleared, but your going to at least need a new dryer and a regas
experience would suggest replacement is the best option

Participantthey have a nasty habit of doin that, it does sometimes take time for the for the oil to mix and reduce the flow of gas
sorry to have to do that to ya, but you may have thrown money away on a repair that MIGHT have worked

Hi Again
Just an update Fridge and freezer seem to be working fine the freezer is at minus 18 and the fridge at around 4 , the tempreture dial i have turned down to between 2 and 3 but i have noticed appliance does not turn off and on would that be a thermostat problem , if i turn the dial lower then machine will turn off then come back on after about 10 mins . i still appear to be getting this clicking noise , does the appliance need to be turning its self off and on during the day ? any help again i would be grateful -
