ParticipantHi
We bought a house in Halifax back in January, the dishwasher was already here but for some reason it’s now stopped working. The lights come on but the water doesn’t come out when we turn it on. Can anyone tell me why this might be? Whether it’s something we can fix ourselves or if we’ll need a professional? If that’s the case what are the costs of repair likely to be?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated it.
Thank you

Hi Liz,
Is it not draining at all when you switch it on? If so there’s a number of things it could be, none of them are liable to be terminal.
Are any of the lights lit or flashing as that would indicate a fault detected?

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
The light above the button we use to start the wash flashes when we’ve shut the door and open it again to see why it isn’t working?

Count the pattern – ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. That is an error code.

It’s a Whirlpool made machine and what’s being indicated is that there is a fault by the flashing LED and beeping. the number of flashes tells us what general area the fault lies in, but not the exact nature of the fault, see this article for more detail on that.
To erase the failure and try again press and hold the the start button for 1.5 seconds but, if the machine detects a failure again, it will flash up a fault code again. Without knowing how many flashes there are it’s not possible to help you any further really.
TBH you may well be best to get some pro help and, on that machine, it’s likely to be worth it. You can find a local repairer using the repairs@ system on the site
