Hi there, wondering if anyone can assist with why my washing machine has stopped taking in water. It stopped mid cycle prior to the rinse and although I have reset the machine and checked filters etc whenever I start a new wash nothing happens despite it going through the usual pattern of 2 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes then a continuos light.

Without being an expert I would guess the pump is no longer working. If that is right does anyone know how much it would cost to replace it?

Does it empty when set to spin?

Hi there, thanks for replying. Just realised that it doesn’t do anything on any setting. No matter where I set the cycle to start the red light stays on solidly and the machine does nowt 🙁

If the door locks then it may well be a faulty pump, the only way forward is to get the pump checked out electrically, with the mains plug removed of course, then its a matter of going through each component, then you may finally decide that the module is faulty ( it is well over 5o{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time) then if you have any sense you realise the machine is of sub standard quality and hopefully resolve to spend a little bit more and buy something decent next time.

Most faults should cause the control knob to start clicking round and the mains light flashing, no fault indicators often mean the motor or brushes are faulty.

    Jim.

if the door is locked and it wont start, its probably the motor brushes

    worth a try…

Re: Indesit W123 not taking in water

Got the brushes from UK whitegoods website and have fitted them without too much trouble. Washing machine is working again 😀 although it is a bit noiser then before during the cycle – is this just the brushes ‘settling in’?

Re: Indesit W123 not taking in water

If it’s a whizzy noise not unlike Mr McHenry’s tricycle from the Magic Roundabout, it’s the brushes settling and nothing to worry about.
