I need to replace the Mechanical Lock Assy (189410) on a WTL5500GB/01 .

That’s the gizmo that prevents the machine working if the bottom panel is not latched into place. It stops you closing the door and starting it up.

It’s not too obvious as to the procedure for removing the metal front panel and accessing this device? Would I be right in thinking that the control panel has to be removed first?

Yes Martin, remove fascia panel and side panels (to make life easier).

Once the fascia is removed it becomes quite obvious how to remove the panel.

Don’t forget the long screw in the middle with a cap covering it.

Make sure you have a good look at the mechanicals of the assy as they have a habit of falling apart as you try to remove them :rolls:

    Good luck.

keep an eye on the bowden cable and the wiring loom on the RHS when you replace the front panel.
