ParticipantHas anyone heard of the whole of the front of this washer dryer falling off? It was purchased Jan 05 and hasn’t been overused or overloaded. Even the concrete rim which is attached to the drum fell off and bought the entire front of the machine crashing down with it. It blew the electrics and there are now bare wires. I feel this is a safety issue which Bosch need to be made aware of so will be contacting them urgently tomorrow.
Anyone else heard of this – or can suggest a reason why?
Thanks

Moved this to trade tech, you may get more feedback and info in here Linda. 😉
I’m assuming that this is a customers machine?

Hi
Not a problematic machine TBH and of it was purchased in Jan 2005, there is a good chance that it is still within its 2 year guarantee 😀Greg

Hi. This washer dryer was purchased by me and is used by a carer who looks after my 95 yr old dad in his flat. It is used every 2-3 days only. I purchased it in Jan 2005 so although out of its 2 year guarantee, is still not fit for purpose and should not have happened. It could have caused a very nasty accident if someone had been standing next to it.
Any other suggestions please?
Thanks.

Had it been getting noisier than normal in the run up to this happenning?

Yes!
I’ve replaced 2 front concrete counterweights on these machines. The concrete mix is faulty and just crumbles to dust, and then they fall off! 😯
They are the crappiest machine ever to have the Bosch name on them. Also the dryer ducting comes loose at the front as they only use 2 PK type screws to hold it into the concrete. When those screws come loose then the side fixing bracket snaps off and the complete heater box flaps about like a duck in trance!
Absolute tosh machine IMHO 👿
Last week I had the dubious pleasure to see the up-dated version of this machine in the guise of a Siemens (built-in version). Just accessing the pump was a challenge as it had fallen off and was jammed under the main motor (still worked though?) More tosh from BOSCH……….. :rolls:

Never seen this problem on this appliance!
I’ve had a few of the duct brackets break that Martin says.
But never, hand on heart, any problems with the front weight.
AFIAK there is no memo or bullitin. :con:
Oh, and don’t quote me! 🙂 :hitfan:January 28, 2008 at 7:59 pm #241288Linda

Hi BSH Man – don’t worry – I won’t quote you. Pity I don’t know how to get a photo of the fault on this blog.
Waiting for Bosch Customer Liaison to get back to me on this. Hope they hurry up.

Definately no known fault with this.
I have only ever had one do it and that was due to overloading :rolls:
Perhaps the carer is over/under loading the m/c. :con:

No, carer definitely not overloading machine. There was only one little sheet in it at the time anyway. Shouldn’t cause the entire concrete rim to collapse into the kitchen anyway. It literally came off in one piece.
Anyone else heard of it please.

Underloading can be as bad as overloading, causes excess vibration and loosens things up.
