    hi was called to this t/d today ,the drum is not turning but the belt is ok and tried hand starting it but no joy i know from other posts that the relay gives trouble ,but this is not cutting in and out, it just wont start is it the timer?

    Well the Relay may be your problem but so too the Capacitor? Is there no power down to the motor then? Motor just humming maybe? 😕

    motor just humming!so tried to hand start by turning drum but did not work.

    usually its the cap though a good push by hand will let start running, check for 240 at motor, if its there must be a motor winding?

    If you just un-hook the belt will it not start then? 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time its just the capacitor. 😀

    Had one the other day that would not start by giving the drum a push ……but a new capacitor solved the problem!

    If the capacitor is open circuit or low capacitance then the symptom would be that the drum will start with a push, however if the capacitor is short circuit then the motor will simply lock up…
