ParticipantHi folks
I hope you can help. I have a Bosch dishwasher SGS43A22GB that will fill with water but then stops (on all the cycles). When you open the door you can see the water in the bottom. Nothing else happens! I press the start/stop button and the pump activates and the water drains away. Can anyone help me get it to do the dishwashing bit!?!?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi
Possibly a jammed/seized wash pump or start capacitor failure (on side of wash motor)Power off if you are to investigate :plug:

Thanks for replying Greg
Where do I find these bits on the machine and how can I tell which is defunct?

Hi Greg
The full model number reads: SGS43A22GB/01. There is another number in smaller font above which is SD15K1B? The SGS number is repeated again without the /01 bit underneath. The machine is about 4-5 years old from new if that helps.
Cheers

Easiest way with this one is, power off then lie it on some towels on its back (watching not to trap or put any of the hoses under duress)
Remove the steel plate base cover, it usually clips off at the front or maybe held on by two torx 20 screws.
With that removed you can gain access to what you need. The big motor is your wash pump and the silver cylinder attached to body is the capacitor 😉Greg

Hi,
Although I do not have your model of dishwasher, on a previous occasion that I had a stuck system it turned out to be the anti flood switch had activated.
This seems to prevent anything working other than the pump to empty the system.
Have you checked that no water has collected in the base, due to a leak.
I’m assuming your’s works on the same principle has mine.mr rugby

I meant in the drip tray underneath the sump.
I don’t mean the actual dishwasher sump where the water collects and where the spray arms are located.
Mine has a waterproof drip tray below the entire dishwasher.
A float device is activated should water enter the drip tray and this will only allow the pump to empty the dishwasher. Nothing else works.
Again i’m not sure if the bosch works on the same principle.mr rugby.

Yes it does have a drip tray and if it had been activated he would not have had any water in the tank when he opened the door, is what I was trying to say 😀

I’ve had what seems to be a similar problem repaired on my Bosch SGS6302 (9 years old). The machine switched on, selected a program, filled with water, and then sat there doing nothing. When switched off (by ending the cycle by pressing the Intensive and Eco switches together) the water drained.
It was as suggested above – the motor capacitor had failed.
Hope this helps.

Hi folks here’s an update.
Took everything apart as suggested and cannot see anything wrong. Had a look in the machine again and took out the filters etc and no problems there.
Are there any tests I can do to tell whether it is the wash pump or the capacitor as both appear fine on the outside (could be a bag of bits inside!)? Do I now need to get an engineer in?
Thanks again for all the help so far.

Cheapest option is change the capacitor, its the most likely and most inexpensive 😉

Thanks Greg
Had a look on the find a part bit of this site but there are no bosch capacitors listed (only a radio interference device which does not look like the part I need)? Do you know where I might get one?
