Three executives from LG electronics are due to stand trial in South Korea after being accused of vandalising washing machines made by rival firm Samsung in what would seem to be something of a joke but, apparently it is not.

It is alleged they bent the doors of the machines at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany last year. But LG said the damage occurred because the model’s hinges were weak.

Jo Seong-jin, head of LG’s home appliances division, is accused of deliberately damaging four Samsung Crystal Blue washing machines at a Berlin trade show in September. Two other LG execs have been indicted on similar charges.

This dispute has been rumbling for months. LG had apparently initially agreed to pay for the damage back in September, but Samsung filed a lawsuit later in the month citing property damage and defamation. LG, in turn, countersued, complaining of evidence tampering.

In a bid to bolster its defence LG has release what must be the most boring video in the world to watch of CCTV footage of the alleged incident. If you really must, you can watch it below.

But seriously, how does something as stupid as this even get to a court?
