Smeg has given its iconic FAB28 retro styled fridge another two special edition makeovers one with a blackboard type finish you can write on and another that is, well, different.
The FAB28RDBB is available as a fully functioning blackboard.
Having considered today’s busy lifestyles, and the tradition of leaving notes on the fridge door, Smeg aims to simplify that process with its latest creation.
A real blackboard surface is used on the exterior of the fridge so family and friends can write messages on it with chalk.
Smeg say that the surface is easy to wipe clean.
The fridge itself has a 256 litre gross capacity, with an AA energy rating, automatic defrost, three glass shelves, fruit and vegetable container, chrome wine rack and internal ice box. It is priced at £1,499.
The other makeover is inspired by Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. This limited edition FAB28RDMC fridge is designed in the style of one of the painter’s most popular pieces: ‘Large Red Plane, Yellow, Black, Grey and Blue’.
It’s ehm, unique…
Mondrian became famous in the early twentieth century for his abstract paintings using a limited colour palette and black lines of varying thickness which complements the rectangular shape and clean lines of Smeg’s fridge say Smeg.
The FAB28RDMC as the previous model features a 256 litre capacity, AA energy rating, adjustable glass shelves, and internal fruit and vegetable containers. It is priced at £1,299.
These recent special editions are the latest in a line of limited edition designs for the FAB28 series. Previous editions of Smeg’s FAB28 fridge have included denim and black velvet wraps, as well as collaborations with fashion designer Paul Smith and Champagne house Veuve Clicquot.
