Smeg have launched a limited edition version of their popular FAB28 retro styled fridge with a matt black effect which is being called “Black or Matt Velvet”. It is very limited however, with just 120 units supposedly bound for the UK market.
Smeg have tried to make these fridges that little bit extra special by assigning each one it’s one individual manufacturing number on a special plate. We thought they did that already with the serial numbers but, what do we know?
However at a recommended price of £1465 for what is, we think, nothing brilliant in the way of a fridge, you are paying an awful lot for the look of a FAB fridge in the first place but this one is just silly money!
The new “Matt Velvet” fridge is said by Smeg to feature a “soft touch surface with an extraordinary rubberized effect, the smooth, velvet black finish, adds a contemporary edge to a design classic”. But then they would say that wouldn’t they.
It’s a fridge, it’s black and it’s very expensive.
