Just read a bit online about tacho.would this machine have a tacho fitted to the motor?Would this cause the cycle dial to continually turn?

Did you check that there was actually continuity through the motor?

The tacho issue is explained HERE. It is only relevant to one type of motor and the motor would still turn over briefly if it were fully in circuit.

Yeh checked the motor.it was fine it did 2 full washes after brushes changed then i had to replace the waste pipe after i changed waste pipe it went downhill from there.you put it to cycle A say and it will every second change to next cycle it will continue doing this till the dial stops at end of the programmes.

Yeh i checked that aswell as i was at that end of machine.I’m puzzled as i said it done 2 full washes and as it was leaking with a burst waste pipe i decided to change waste pipe.after the change the machine just cycles through every segment on dial no drum movement no filling it just tries to drain.
