I have a Ariston AWD12UK, Which ever programme you select the fabric conditioner inlet valve opens. Tracked it down to the valve soleniod getting a continuous netraul, chased the wire back to the PCB, then ofcourse who knows what happens in there. Has anybody else had this fault? I’m suspecting the PCB but I don’t think she will buy one of those. I disconnected the FAB soleniod, works fine but of course no dispensing

Sounds like a faulty triac on the PCB – she may not buy a new board but EMW can repair it for a fraction of the cost with 12 months warranty. I usually get to do the job by repairing rather than replacement – environmentally friendly and all that ……

    HTH,

    Steve.

    Hi aqualectric,
Do the triacs switch on neutral? I did have lives to all connections to all valves except this one.

Filling on every setting including spin is a very common fault in Indesit boards. 😥

Yes John, the live to the triac is through the valve and provides the neutral when valve operation is required.

Thanks for helping me on this one, I will send the board to EMW for repair.

Re: ARISTON AWD12 FILLING. (And pumping + flash rapidly)

Got same model similar fault. Two out of three solenoids can be going at some points. Pressure sw. operates perfectly as usual. Light is flashing too rapidly to count 😕 😕
If the triac(s) controlling water valves have gone down, why would they do that? I’m tempted to, “have a go” with the soldering iron but am not too confident that it’s as simple as replacing a triac or two.
    Mike.
PS:Only sign of damage to board is soapy water mark (long dried) along two edges. Ah, wonder if I’ve just answered my own question?

    I’m thinking????….hmmmm?….Tony our good & reliable friend @ EMW…….now there’s an idea? 💡

Yes, yes. That is the main direction I am going, of course. However, you’d be the first to admit that I would make about £40 more on the job if I could do it myself. And you’d probably admit that you’ve fixed the odd board yourself recently where formerly you might have given it to someone else to repair.
And you’d advocate that we have to be ready to learn in this business; if not we go down. Wouldn’t you?
It’s OK if you just want to use your momentum to get you to the finish line and looking for new ways to make money is not essential. But for those of us who are not yet in the happy position of being lined up for the comfy retirement package, we have to keep living off our wits!
    And anyway, it’s more fun!
And Tony will always be a step ahead; cause he’s constantly learning too. So you don’t need to worry yourself about his business viability.
    Rant over.
    Mike.

Indeed so Mike, it is a bit of fun to suss it out oneself, quite a result more often than not truth be known and you are no stranger to that approach I know…and well for you my friend. 😀

leavemetogetonwithit wrote:And Tony will always be a step ahead; cause he’s constantly learning too.

Indeed so again Mike, one step ahead than many I shouldn’t wonder. 😉 But, in all seriousness now, for about 6 quid you can post the module to EMW for them to fully test. If it’s OK they will send it back to you and tell you that…cost to you just £6. My suspicion, and knowing we’re talking Ariston module here, it will be faulty. In which case they are there to bring it back to life for just a few quid more and guaranteed to work to boot! But if you can suss out the fault, replace the triacs and reprogramme that darn eeprom, bench test it and make 40 quid on the deal I can fully understand where you are coming from.

Oh I have truly learnt from this business alright and still, as yet anyways, live off my wits. I can truly say from my experience so far though that fuffing about with an Ariston module is no fun at all and I wish you well in whatever course of action you take to sort this job out. I’m only sorry I couldn’t help you further…all the best! 😀

Are EMW giving 12 months again?
I thought they cut guarantees down because the PCB’s are so unreliable!

This is an old thread I revived to save starting a new one!

    Re: ARISTON AWD12 FILLING.

Got re-con module from EMW. Fitted yesterday. Did all the usual checks to make sure of connections etc. All worked fine.
Get phone call this morning. Two full washes went through fine, now timer rotating and 15 flashes. That is a totally different fault from what it had before which was overfilling & valve(s) not shutting off.
I’m wishing I had just said no. I charged £90 total for job. Take £50 off that for module exchange and return post and it leaves me with £40 and I guarantee it for a year. 8 mile round trip for each visit, two so far, 3rd booked. Note to self: Next time say NO! (Mitigating circumstances were that machine hadn’t been much used as is in second home.)
15 flashes, assuming customer counted correctly, is “dryer relay” according to error codes.
Going back Monday to have a look. Still have original module as wasn’t going to post office till Monday, so might spend a bit of time giving it a bit of study. Could not find any shorted triacs on brief examination at house yesterday.

Hi EMW only guarantee for 6 months, I tell the customer before I pass on the guarantee I get.

Also the last board I fitted I charged £130, I always mark these jobs up as have to take into account the failure rate on them.

    Re: ARISTON AWD12 FILLING.

Anything over £100 round here is practically certain to be considered BER even in the occasional cases where I think otherwise. Actually, I think I did tell them only six months on the board, though, so safe there. TBH, if they get through a fortnight, they normally go OK for a couple of years AFAIK.
I think I’ll try the mark up technique next time though, rather than just say no, but it’ll be BER over the phone most likely (usually is at £90).
    Mike.
