Hi,
I have a Hoover AB130 that has started to play up, I changed the brushes 3 months ago and everything was ok until last week when running a heavey load of towels. On the last spin it started to make a loud whining noise which when it slowed down became a clicking noise also ther was a smell of hot varnish, I am an instrumentation service engineer by profession so I began to suspect a bearing. After taking off the back and removing the belt I found the drum rotated freely with no noise but the motor clicked when turned by hand, when I removed the brushes the clicking stopped and on feeling the commutator a section was raised slightly, I cleaned everything and reassembled, on trying the washer I found that the motor struggled to turn with a loud hum but sometimes seemed ok but noisey. I have looked back through the posts on this forum and feel that the motor as probably fried a winding but would like some confirmation on this!
Thanks
Jon
