    Hi,

I’ve noticed the drum no longer spins when in operation but can be turned by hand. Also the dryer gets hot. I removed the back tray to reveal the shaft and this looks fine. I then removed the lid and side panel and found the snapped belt (CONTITECH 144002155 7PHE 1860).

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement belt and how to fit it? I need to get the belt around the drum but wasn’t sure which end to approach from, the front or back?

    Cheers
    Richard

    Hi Richard

Are you sure you wan’t to do this :rolls: The usual way is over front of the drum, BUT the big problem is getting the belt fitted over the motor spindle, we use a special tool (£50 ish) oh and you may need plenty of band aids 😉

13 amp Plug out remember 😉

Yes, on these it is usually easiest to remove the screws that secure the back, pull the drum back enough to create a big enough gap at the front to slip the belt over then position the belt on the witness mark where the old belt ran. I find you can improvise the special tool using some stiff tubing such as steel electrical conduit. Put the tube between belt and drum, poke the end of the tube over the end of the motor spindle, lever the tube down so it’s in line with the spindle then work the belt along to the end of the tube. Withdraw the tube, holding the belt so it drops onto the vee grooves of the spindle.
