Hi there,
I have a 4 yr old Hoover washing machine Mod. HNF 3157-80 / Ser. No. 3100063 0445 4563.
On a 59′ wash programme, it remains on wash for hours without moving on to rinse, drain or spin.
On a rinse cycle, it will fill and drain and keep tripping at the same point in the programme til it turns itself off.
On the spin cycle, it drains for a long time, the drum twitches occasionally and then it stops without spinning at all.
I’ve cleaned the pump of the few calcium pebbles – (otherwise clean) and checked all electrical connections.
A couple of days ago, it wouldn’t drain, but did spin with some water still in the drum. Now it won’t spin, but it drains ok. I’m confused!
Any ideas what I should try next?

have you checked the motor brushes,

Will I have to take the motor off to do that? From what I can see, there seems to be a light covering of black dust over the copper segments. Could it just need a cleaning?

dont clean the coper segments.

Yes, both faces are clean and shiny. One shaft surface looks like it has been affected by heat. (1mm in total from the face).
