ParticipantDesperate, need help please.
The power is present on the timer controller pcb.
The timer pcb has sign of slight burn but the top layer pcb tracks are not open circuit. The door open/close ok MECHANINCALLY. Opened the front plate of the door lock and inspected the grey casing through the cut out, the lock looks clean. Do you think I should still replace the lock ? OR is there anything else I should check before ordering the lock ?
Thanks.

You are right its not a bad WM so I will find out more to fix it with help from you guys and enlighten myself. The lock shows no sign of burn. What is the best way to get it out to inspect it ? I don’t mind replacing the lock or pcb if I can be sure they are faulty. It is amazing the machine is dead just because of faulty lock. I will have a go at lock and controller pcb tomorrow and order the lock to start with. I want to do little for the environment, not scrap it unless I have to. Is their a TECHNICAL manual I can buy ?
Thanks for your help.September 4, 2008 at 11:13 pm #261755helo_75
Participantpeel the door seal back, undo the 2 screws and take it out
the part number for the lock is 55×3636if you struggle to get hold of one at the right money, email me and ill do u a deal on one
theres a wiring diagram on the switch itself
although if the timer is blown, its often visible on the board itself on the timer, the track blow off
follow the wires back from the lock, and youll see it near the plug if thats the case
of course it could just be the lock, sometimes it is, i was only pointing out the worst case scenario…
plug out if your investigating

Replacement door interlock is HERE.
Given that it is the primary safety device on the machine, failure will stop it dead. This should not be a surprise to anybody….. If it’s blown, giving it a shake usually does the trick. If it sounds like it’s full of little bits rattling about inside, it is full of little bits rattling about inside and has definitely failed.

On checking with mag glass and meter the 2 tracks did not look good, so I have soldered them with the fine sleeved wire. The locks look crystal clear and there is no rust or trace of water, however I will now check for the loose materials and rattle it, as suggested. Do you think I can then connect the module and lock to its place and switch ON WM. The lock at the moment is in open position. Is their anything else electonically I can measure (like resistance) or isolate any connection before switching it on. It’s that I will try to take too many chances with module and order the lock. I will send you the result within half an hour.
Thanks.September 5, 2008 at 10:38 am #261758Park

SORRY. I meant not to take many chances.
It’s that I will try NOT to take too many chances with module and order the lock. I am quite enjoying this realy with your help and my electronic knowledge is coming back. Do you know where I can buy tech manual for this WM. But surely I will order the lock as I can use it now or in future.
Thanks again.September 5, 2008 at 11:57 am #261759Park

Hello_75,
Need the lock and tech manual for the engineers. I don’t want to go via google payment system but use direct CC online.
As said the tracks are ok now, inspected the lock is clean. Switched on the WM but still dead.
Spoke to the Whitegoods guy sent an email to them, waiting.

Have placed the order for the Lock but my brain won’t stop testing. There is AC mains on the lock on terminal 1 & 2 and when the lock (switch) is closed the 3rd terminal does not receive the Ac mains. So can I say the lock is faulty ?

Participantwe dont condone live testing
however, you chould have a neutral and one live ( see diagram on lock)
