Need help Identifying Cooker (Valor Newhome Model 351-70)

Hello all,

A while ago while making pasta, I managed to splash some water into the cooker causing a big BANG as something shorted out somewhere and the fan stopped working. This makes the cooker somewhat unsatisfactory as I can’t run the grill or the front rings at too high a heat, or it overheats and then cuts out …

I finally got around to disassembling the thing today, and found the motor seems fine (still haven’t checked it completely) but I seem to have shorted out the control board which drives the fan. And now of course this is where I start to hit problems…

Problem no. 1: There is no make or model information anywhere on the cooker. It may have originally been on the glass hob cover, but that vanished long ago… Of course without a precise idea of the model, getting any spares might be tricky.

There is a rating plate in the area just under the rings which tells me the following:

Needless to say, searching for the Valor Newhome 351-70 has produced zilch results … Does anyone know what make and model I should be looking for? Or is this thing so old I am outta luck?

The circuit board in question has the following on it:

Bottom left, solder side: DIAMOND H CONTROLS
Left hand edge, solder side: T?5 (may be T65) EC110B
Right hand edge, solder side: 23-408 Iss. ? (looks like a 2). Overstamped over the maybe-2 in white paint is ’28-6′
Top edge: 23-433 ISS. 6
Bottom RH corner: Two Hs sort of stacked up and joined together. A bit like this:

Problem no. 2: A small but vitally important problem. I made a schoolboy error during disassembly and don’t know which way round I should reconnect the fan (if I ever get that far, I think with the age of the cooker I might be on a hiding to nothing). One side went to live, one to the post marked LAMP on the PCB. Problem is I can’t remember which and getting it wrong = another blown PCB ;). they are coloured in normal ‘modern’ Live and Neutral colours (brown and blue), but not sure which went where. I am pretty sure one side went to Live but always best not to make assumptions …

If anyone can help me with my aging cooker, it’d be much appreciated. Although at the moment I’m leaning towards wiring it up so the blower’s permanently on (if it still works – not yet verified!) and switching it on/off at the wall instead, until I get a new cooker ….
