ParticipantCleaning performance has progessively worsened over a number of weeks/months.
Doesn’t dry properly (water marks left on cups etc, and a fair amount of water leaft about). Now food’s getting left on plates, cutlery etc., too.
Washing arms seems free to rotate and clear. In fact the whole machine *seems* quite clear/clean.
We ARE using Tesco/’green’ tablets and rince aid, but have been using them for quite a while without problems (until now).
It’s as if there isn’t enough water flow/pressure to get the cleaning job done, and not enough heat to get the drying job done.
Any ideas what to look for try next?

I’m not convinced the arms are going round when it’s washing – but they do seem clean/clear. Is a pump failure likely (though it does seem to drain ok)?

Presuming your using detergent , rinse aid AND salt , then the first thing to check is water levels .
Let the machine fill and start washing . After apporox 5mins , pop the door open and check the level of water in the base . It should just about cover the whole base , reaching the bottom edge of the salt. If it doesn’t then you probably have a blocked pressure chamber/fill hose . Does it make any strange ‘kledunking’ noises as it fills , may sound like the pump switching on and off during the first couple of minutes during the fill cycle ?

Water level is I think ok. I have noticed that when it’s filling from the main water supply it tends to do so with a number of short ‘goes’ of a few seconds each.

Fill should be constant.
Remove plug and left hand side panel. You should find something which looks like this:

They fill with muck and goo and throw the filling and washing process completely.Strip and clean fill chamber:

Then do the hose coming out of the bottom right.
In future, remember to pre-rinse heavy sauces and food deposits off the crockery prior to washing. It’s a dishwasher, not a waste disposal unit.

Yup, lid off. Two spring latches at the back.

Oooooo. I now have a working machine again. I feel like “Dr Dishwasher”, though of course it’s only down to the help here from you.
Many thanks 🙂

Are you using Tesco’s “Naturally” Dishwasher Tablets?
If so, I really would caution against them. I used them in my full-size Bosch, and they foamed up very badly indeed, in fact they caused the machine to stop washing.
If you want a cheap well-performing tablet, go for Tesco’s “Value” dishwasher tablets. They get a good rating for cleaning from Which? Magazine.

I’ve just been to a SGS43C02, No Heat, I checked all the usual, no fault found…..then I remembered reading Trilobites post last night. Looked in the cupboard under the sink and there they were Tesco ‘Naturally Sparkling’ Tablets…….
Thanks for that Trilobite :bounce:November 4, 2008 at 10:15 pm #265758lisa2301

Hi
I have a Bosch dishwasher model SGS69A02GB/17 which is prob around 4 years old. I had the same problem as mentioned but with the help of the great advice & fab photos managed to clean the pressure chamber as described. However while doing so I noticed that in the larger water tank (I think this is called the heat exchanger – sorry for ignorance 😳 but I assume that the ‘plastic tank’ is attached to the heat exchanger and comes as one unit?) that there was also a lot of ‘gunk’ stuck in the top left hand corner. Should I attempt to clean this out? I have put the pressure chamber back on and all seems to be working ok at present – although a) I still dont get a continuous fill – as mentioned, but a few short attempts then it fills ok. and also b) an auto wash indicates a time of around 133 minutes – and intense around the same. Although since cleaning the pressure chamber the time has reduced to around 88/91 minutes – so assume this is no longer a prob. Sorry long post but could it be the ‘gunk’ i can see which is stopping the continuous fill & should I attempt to clear it, or leave be? I believe we are in a fairly hard water area, if this make a difference. Thanks in advance for any advice.November 4, 2008 at 10:25 pm #265759Penguin45

It’s not a heat exchanger, it’s a fill matrix – water can be held in various chambers to operate the softener system. The back part of the matrix is where the drain water is expelled – so long as the water flows freely. leav it alone.
Did you clean out the hose coming out of the bottom right of the pressure chamber? It gunges uop as well.

Thanks for prompt reply.
Yes I did clean the hose that comes from the right hand bottom corner of the pressure chamber, as best i could. It didnt seem to have much length in the hose – so scraped out what i could. Left the side off to watch it fill to see if ‘the gunk’ at the top made any difference – water level only rises to that point then fills other chambers. But cleaning pressure chamber seems to have made a difference – thought it would as it had seemed to go wrong, then after running a cleaning cycle it worked for couple washes before going wrong again. Guess I should ignore the fact that the fill is not continuous and leave alone. Sorry one last question, when i took my pressure chamber apart, the part which I beleive is the float (red bit) to stop the dishwasher flooding – should I have been able to access that part? It appeared to be in a sealed unit. I know in your photo you appear to have seperated it from the main housing. Thanks again for your great help!November 5, 2008 at 12:09 am #265761Penguin45

The piece on the left hand side of the piccie is the “insert” which fits into the top of the main moulding – you need to insert a fine screwdiver down the side and prise it out for proper access.
The hose is about 8″ long, so you do need to clean right through it – a skinny bottle brush is a good tool.
