    Model CTD40P
    Serial number 707040221

    Seems (my daughter) has the usual problem with this machine.

    Allegedly there are no lights flashing etc so hopefully this is a simple “stats” replacement.

    Have read various threads and I need the

    Question.

    I have the back off the machine and have found only two “stats”
    Do I need to change all three and where is the other one?

    You have checked the stats for continuity first I assume.

    There used to be three stats fitted, then they removed one in July 05 and then refitted it again in Jan 06.

    According to the information I have the third or cycling stat was refitted after serial number 60109.00001 so yours should have three unless of course they have removed it again.

    The kit will contain a one shot safety stat, a cycling stat and an NTC. If you only have two then you only need to replace the NTC and the safety stat.

    I will do a continuity check before ordering etc.

    So if there were to be three stats then they’d all be in that back panel?

    BTW
    Both stats looked exactly the same with no dots or colours etc.

    Are the replacements easy to tell apart?

    When three stats are fitted they are all situated above the heater. Normally the one shot safety stat has a spot of paint on it, however if you remove them carefully and examine the under side ( don’t press the underside) you can identify the safety stat, if the base is concave then it has tripped and will not reset. The NTC has a solid base and is normally fitted to the right.

    I do carry these items but I am off for a game of squash shortly. I will dig out a set and see if it is possible to identify which is which when I return. 🙂

    I’m back. 8)

    In the kit there are two stats and an ntc. The ntc is obvious because it has a completely flat base.

    The ‘one shot’ safety stat has a white spot on it and in most cases a tiny hole in the centre of the top side.

    If your machine only has one stat and one ntc then you will only need to replace these two and discard the cycling stat.
