ParticipantI’ve just repaired the above machine, fitted element, door seal, drain pump & door interlock.
After repair when testing, the machine fills to level, then the valve cuts in and out particularly once the drum rotates altering the water level. If I clamp the pressure hose this stops.
I have checked the pressure chamber and hose for blockages or water droplets and ever thing looks OK.
I know on a few machines there is a restrictor fitted in the pressure hose but not in this case.
I can only assume this is a problem with the pressure switch but have never come across it in the past on any other machine.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith.

I would try a new pressure hose. There may be a pinhole that you can’t see.

Had same once on one of their washers I was reconning. Took a restrictor out of an old one and fitted it. That cured it. I think it had probably been omitted during manufacture but owner hadn’t realised there was anything wrong.

not seen this on a wd62 but have on the older ones i would go for pressure switch although it would be very unlikely
let me know what cures itNovember 27, 2008 at 11:48 pm #269938Simon46

Have seen shorted heater knacker the pressure switch on a few.

I checked the pressure hose, I have only found a hole in one through wear caused by friction against the tub or cabinet. I couldn’t find any sign of this.

How was the pressure switch knackered? Was it open or short circuit or was it doing the same as this?
The element on this was dead short to earth on this.

Foolproof way to test any pressure hose for leaks. Simply place one end in your mouth. Immerse the far end in water and blow. Reverse hose to test other half. Remember mending punctures in your bike?

I think neptune means you to block the end you’re not blowing into.

It was underfilling due to shorted heater cut through by collapsed drum bearings. when the drum turned it filled for a second. Was out of calibration.

Have you checked sump hose for kinks, twists or sagging after swopping pump?

Not thought of this angle but can see the movement of the drum would allow the water level to drop which in turn releases the pressure switch.
Wouldn’t this affect the machine when draining though?

It caan affect empty out but not always, happens mainly on Hoover logics and Hotpoint wma range.

On this machine it appears to fill to a level then the valve releases several times with a judder then stops for a minute and does it again.
Each time it does it, it’s not for so long until after a few minutes it seams to settle and stop filling.
If it was the pressure hose would it not continue this action until the drum filled and the water floods from the dispenser?
