ParticipantI have a Diplomat dishwasher but the arms do not seem to be spinning. I can’t find a model NO on the appliance.
Is it worth putting that pump in or just buy a decent dishwasher to begin with! It was inherited to us as an integrated appliance when we bought the house.

model number normally on side of the door in print or label.
main reason for both arms not turning are that the spray arms holes are blocked. if not then most likely to be wash pump/capacitor depending on model,or module aborting the program before it gets to the wash.December 15, 2008 at 10:04 pm #271661mercurystar999

Water is coming out of both arms but when i quickly pull down the door they don’t seem to be moving. I put them in a certain place push the door closed and then reopen after 30 seconds or so and they are in the same place.

If the rotor tips are clear, it’s probable that you’ve got a blockage of some description, or that the circulation pump impellor has sheared off the motor. Nothing for it but pull it out, put it on its back and start looking. Impellor set is available as a spare part, so you don’t have to buy the whole motor.
It’s a SMEG-made machine, BTW. The housing/impellor set is p/no 690070483, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you one promptly if required.
Power off first,

How reliable are these machines? I fear that repairing this machine will only result in me paying out again in the near future?

Your call…… A lot of independents don’t like SMEG machines, mainly because they are misunderstood. I myself am a happy SMEG dishwasher owner of some years.
I’d drag it out and at least see if you can work out what has happened. It’ll cost you time rather than money and it’ll probably be more interesting than Christmas shopping! You’ve got no chance of replacing it before Christmas, so repair is currently your only option. Apart from the Marigolds……….
