My 9 year old Bosch dishwasher has developed a fault whereby it starts up, appears to fill with water but does not continue to the next cycle. On opening the door there is cold water and powder at the bottom. Also when you press the intensive and eco buttons together it drains ok.

Are you saying that it doesn’t circulate?

No circulation = no pressure on the diaphragm switch in the heater = no heat = no progress through the programme.
Remove plug, lid and right hand side panel to access the motor, and check whether or not it is free to turn – there should be light resistance. If it is free, check whether or not you can hear a humming noise when the motor is activated. If it hums, it may well need the start/run capacitor replacing. If no hum either the motor or the pcb will be at fault.

Have you noticed any funny grinding noises during the wash cycle recently ? Maybe been slowly getting worse over a few months ?
it could be that the seal in the motor has leaked , allowing water into the motor itself which has then caused the motor shaft/bearings to seize due to corrosion.
Follow The flightless one’s instructions and if you can’t turn the blades on the rear of the motor , then this would be your probable cause.
