Obviously, unless you’ve been in a cave somewhere, you will be fully aware of the ongoing issues surrounding current events that are shall we say, fluid.
On ongoing day-to-day (sometimes hour-to-hour) basis things are changing and evolving and often at a rapid pace and some measures may affect the appliance industry and the ability for you to get new machines, spare parts and repairs.
One of the biggest obstacles is people not working, be that carriers, repairers or delivery network employees. It is highly probable that all will suffer from a reduced capacity now or soon if events continue on the path they are on at the time of writing.
We are doing what we can in respect to spare parts but some products may take longer than normal to arrive and sadly this is completely beyond our or anyone’s control.
The same applies to deliveries of new products we expect with some people in the industry getting very jittery about the ability to deliver new machines.
Repairers are really starting to get anxious about visiting customers not only for themselves but for customers as well.
As was said in the forums earlier today: “On the one hand you’re right, there’s risk involved.
On the other hand, say it’s a cooker or a fridge, can the person live without it and if those go, it means going out or relying on deliveries of food.”
It’s a tough one not figure out as there are pros and cons to each approach and, all will need to heed the advice of government with much the same we expect applying to deliveries of parts or new machines although, in theory, spare parts should carry less risk to some extent.
Sadly we need to carry on as normal for the most part, taking the precautions as prescribed best possible and follow advisory notices as we get them.
Spare Parts
This is our world.
So far we’ve not seen a massive impact but we expect it as we mentioned a few weeks ago in respect to China which was, then the problem. Still, deliveries from that region do seem to be slower but it’s hard to tell as they were so slow anyway.
Italy is a big problem as it’s in lockdown and huge numbers of spare parts come from or through Italy and then by road most often from there across Europe into the UK.
Looking today at the number of EU states closing or placing restrictions in border crossings this could become a very big problem and a source of delay.
We cannot be certain of much here as, like we said at the top of this article, the situation is fluid and we have about as much information as anyone else watching the news. All we can do, like anyone, is wait and see what happens on a case by case basis. Just like everyone else living through this nightmare.
We sincerely hope it’s all okay and we all get through this but we would ask that both trade and end users show some understanding in the current climate and try to remain calm and civil as we’re all in this mess and have to work our way through it best we can.
