WHat is it with Bosch. Overun with dishwashers 🙂
This one shows 0 on display. Then the bar for wash, starts to fill then either does nothing when full or drains and fills. I have cleared out the transfer hose and checked everthing else I can think of…..HELP!!!
    bet Aqua has an answer

Not sure what or who Aqua is but “drains & fills” is usually a sticking red float chamber. If you press to “reset” does it do just that? If not I’d take a look at the module also. 😉

    Aqualectric Martin,
Had red float chamber apart and cleaned it thoroughly. Would I be looking for anything specific on the board?

No need to look at the board in this case if indeed it ‘resets’ as it should? Hence my asking. 😉

Bit worried though about : –

Does nothing when full? Is the main motor OK?….

Yes motor checks out fine. If the door is opened after filling and shut then it goes into drain mode. It seems all over the place, sometimes fill/empty at same time, sometimes fill and sit doing nothing , other times straight to drain just by switching it on.
They were discussing a Miele when I was there so may not need a cure after all.

    Re: Bosch SGS5318GB/12 Dishwasher

When you say you cleaned the red float; did you remove the metering chamber as a unit and split it down? (The red float is part of this unit). Strange faults can happen on these machines caused by scaling of the black plastic restrictor in the metering chamber. That is the part that the pressure switch (banjo shaped) with the microswitch and lever (blue lever, higher of the 2 microswitches) fits down into. It is clearly visible through the side of the chamber. If it gets scaled, it will back up the water and in turn lift the red float and start the drain pump.
Remove the complete metering chamber and lift out the pressure switch assembly. Then prise off the top rim of the chamber. To remove the restrictor, turn the chamber upside down and tap it smartly on a flat surface. The restrictor will then be accessible with pliers. Remove and clean then refit. When the machine is filling, the restrictor should not impede the water flow and cause it to back up and lift the red safety float. I have also had the airbox nozzle that fits into the top of the chamber block with scale. Look for that too.
If that doesn’t sort it, then PCB.

    Steve.

    Thanks Steve,
I cleaned the whole lot. Right from the off the red float never lifted, the m/c just started draining either immediately or after some filling.
I think it must be the pcb.

    Sorry Martin,
it was hit and miss. sometimes it would reset to 0 or start to fill or drain for ever.

Sound like the main Pcb if the reset is hit and miss
