I have a Whirlpool AKG218/WP and the Main oven has stopped working, no light, no fan, no heat. The other oven and grill work fine. The clock does not work but the relay on the timer has been checked and is in the manual position – allowing current across the contacts, so it’s not a timer issue.
Thermal switch ? Mode selector switch?
Any thoughts on what it could be would be gratefully recieved 🙂

Sounds like the selector switch, the contacts often fail/burn out,it’s quite obvious when you see this as it’s black and burnt, unfortuneately they are on underneath of the selector switch so not easily visible.
You need to remove control panel facia to access the two securing screws which hold the switch, the control can then be turned over to view.
Could be a failed connector on the neutral side, maybe at mains connector at back. It’s a case of taking off the facia to get to the two screws which release the selector switch, you can turn it over and view the underneath of the selector.
Be VERY VERY careful, switch off at main switch and consumer board, you are dealing with 30amp/ 7 k’s and there are no second chances, would suggest you call an engineer if in doubt.

Thanks for the info ‘spimps’, I should have checked the switch when I checked the timer relay, it was a busy day 😕 . You are quite right in highlighting the safety side of things. I never check or open things up with the power on and then check continuity/resistances with a meter.
