UK appliance warranty company trading as UK Service Plan Ltd has been forcibly shut down by the Insolvency Service and noted as not having been regulated by the FCA.
We are sure that this company was mentioned in the trade forums previously in, shall we say, a not too flattering light and in the information from the Insolvency Service there’s a very interesting thing that will set off not alarm bells, but air raid sirens for many trade members which is that they also traded from Trafalgar Place, Brighton, Warranty companies and that area come up regualrly, very regularly in the trade forums and again, not in a good way.
Earlier in the year, the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) noted here that the company was unauthorised, which would seem to imply that complaints had been received.
Some of the stuff that this company was up to is, in our view, pretty disgusting, as it essentially conned vulnerable and elderly people. Most people, we are sure, would agree with that sentiment. So we can’t say that we’re sorry that a company doing this sort of thing was closed down.
