ParticipantHaving problems with freezer defrosting for no particular reason even the ice making facility is not making ice etc. Can anybody point my husband to any possible problem what could be wrong. We don’t want to call an engineer out straight away, he would like to check all the necessary things himself first.
We have turned off the fridge/freezer off for approx 15 mins and tried rebooting back up but still to no avail. The freezer does sound as though it is working ie. lights are on and even sounds as though its all working.
The ice maker is taking in the water but not making ice.
The fridge is working fine.
24 hours have now gone and just got up from bed and now the fridge is not working. The lights are working and it sounds as though everything is okay but unfortunately its not.
MAKE: ADMIRAL
MODEL: AC2224GEKB (SAL224GB)
SERIAL NO: 111374974JLAny help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

hello, if you open the fridge door, can you hear the compressor (motor) kick in, only to go off when you close the door again?

Yes you are right when we open the fridge door the compressor kicks in and goes off when the door is closed.
You obviously got a good idea what is wrong by the sound of it!!!!
The fridge/freezer is only 2 years and 2 months old so I suppose its just outside the warranty period.
Look forward to your reply.
Many thanks

it’s a simple one really.
the problem lies with the circuit board which is in the fridge at the top where the digital display is.
you need a new control board for the fridge.March 29, 2009 at 5:59 pm #281555Westie-Lady

Dave,
Each board has a different code, true, some will accept earlier codes, but the latest board jazz 15 code 28 regardless of what’s on the rating plate.

Hi Machineman
When you say you fitted ‘that board’ what one did you fit i.e. what part number? I am confused with reply (sorry).
Also, you mention a code. How is this input. I am not a fridge engineer but do repair electronic devices.
Also, where did you buy it from?
Thanks in advance

the procedure is a bit long winded but easy to do
open fridge door close door switch
press freezer temp down 3 times within 10 secs
release door light
display shows P+E
confirm entry freezer button once
display 0+0
take code from bar code i think mine was 28
press freezer button up until 2 is reached
press fridge up until 8 is reached
