My 3 and a bit year old dishwasher seems to have been causing the RCD on the consumer unit to trip for about four days but was working OK until I fired it up yesterday. We always use the 65 degree wash cycle.

The washer now will not heat and will start beeping mid cycle, sometimes after five minutes or so, sometimes after as long as 80 minutes.

When you open the door, the LED by the start button is flashing three times and the Rinse proramme LED is lit. The water has drained away. Open the door mid-cycle and the spray arms are all OK, but the water is cold.

Since switching the machine off the RCD has not tripped again.

I’ve searched the forum and found similar faults, but not identical. Any clues? Is it worth repairing and if it is, is it an engineer job and if so, is there one in the BD10 area you could recommend?

    Thanks for any help.

Hi: It sounds like the Heating element is Leaky to Earth, if you feel confident in DIY & have a good Multimeter that you know how to use for resistance testing then this is possibly a job you could tackle yourself.

If you are in any doubt then please se repairs@ for an Engineer local to you.

PLEASE REMEMBER: IF YOU TACKLE THIS YOURSELF POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING. 😯

When it starts beeping, open the door and count the pattern of the flashing start lamp – ie – 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. This is an error code, which we can interpret.

As stated vaguely above, the Start button LED flashes three times, pause, three flashes, pause etc.

The lit programme LED changes from the 65 wash to the rinse programme.

Thanks for the help thus far. 🙂

3 flashes is a fault in the heating system, sure someone with more link posting ability will direct you to a heater part.
