ParticipantHotpoint Tumble Dryer Condenser sorry did not get the model number.
It is tripping electrics; this is caused by water in the fan heater housing being blown up onto the heater.
I have cleaned out the water tank with the pump in it and checked that it is clear from the condenser to the tank, also that the pump is pumping and the float and switch is working.
I have just got a call back to say it tripping again and yes there is water in the fan heater housing.
Anybody got any suggestions please.Bernie

I’ve had the heater mica insulators on these get worn away on the lower edges of the heater terminals. Usually accompanied by the sound of a loose fan :rolls: . Pretty sure its caused by the vibration and thin Mica.

Thanks for the tip TC
But my problem is definitely to do with water getting into the fan heater housing.May 20, 2009 at 2:29 pm #287385bzz67

my guess is intermittent pump. (never plays up when your watching)

A very common fault on these, particularly the pump models. Caused by the float chamber and condensor housing getting bunged up.
You need to pull out the condensor, ( make sure it is clean ) , lie down on the floor and reach right into the back, there is a channel at the back that gets gunged up that needs cleaning out.
The later heater assy also has a couple of modifications that are supposed to help prevent this problem as well.
Then advise the customer to clean the condensor properly at least once every couple of weeks.

thanks Jim for the reply, but that is what I did the first time I went to this machine as I have come across this before where it gets blocked between the condenser and pump water tank. I even took the side panel of so I could get to it easier.
Thanks again

Its a real pain trying to sort out a machine that is so badly made in the first place. :rolls:
How long did it run for between your first and second visit. If it was several weeks then it does point towards a failure to keep the condensor clean. Sadly due to the awful design of the condensor front, most customers don’t do this as often as is required. 😥

I am told that the customer only used it once then on the second go it tripped the electrics.
This customer does keep the condensor clean.Bernie

😳 I thought I had read that Bernie had changed the pump, my mistake, it was bzz67 that suggested it. I have had a few intermittant pumps on these.

There is a mod a new heater cover it has a small hole drilled in it with an absorbent pad fitted underneath to absorb any moisture, part n/o C00264260, it does work but doesnt look good. JJ
