    Went to this appliance today. Its a standard fan oven with a microwave oven above. The problem is with the microwave, no heat. The machine appears to work OK but there is no heat. I have checked the fuses both which appear to be ok. The capacitor checks out as does the high tension transformer. with good resistances through. There is a diode that is connected to earth, this will only show a resistance one way with the megger. Is this correct? I don’t normally bother with microwaves due to their cost now, but this appliance with the oven attacted is expensive to replace. Am I missing a trick with this?

    you need to know if the microwave is firing up put a test meter on the transformer primary (240v side ) and see if you get mains when you activate. no use looking at mag and the like if you got no power. you can disconnect the secondary so you dont have high voltage floating about
    yes diode needs at least 9v to be able to show it works ok
