Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. expects to recycle 140,000 refrigerators and freezers under a new contract with Southern California Edison Co., the company announced Jan. 30.
The company will handle appliance recycling operations in Southern California Edison´s service territory under California´s Statewide Residential Program during 2004 and 2005. ARCA will recycle about 70,000 old, but working, appliances each year of the two-year contract.
Appliance Recycling Centers of America is one of the nation´s largest household appliance recyclers for electric utilities´ energy conservation programs. The company also sells special-buy appliances, such as closeouts, factory overruns and scratch-and-dent units through its nine ApplianceSmart factory outlets.
