Any answer would just be guesswork without actually seeing the machine.

It could be the pump filter, leaks from the soap drawer, internal hoses, door seal or even the paper thin outer drum on this budget quality, 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit machine which can easily be punctured by coins or split round the motor mounting brackets.

Re: leak from Hotpoint BWM 129

Although it may be more difficult with a built in appliance, usually because the idiots, sorry kitchen fitters don’t give a second thought about future maintenance, the only way to find out for sure is to pull the machine out and observe it during a cycle.

If you are lucky enough to have had one of the 1 in 10 kitchen installers who actually do the job properly then you should be able to do this without having to disconnect all the plumbing.

If you have to disconnect the fill & drain hoses to extract the machine then leak finding becomes more of a problem.

You may gather from this post that whitegoods engineers dislike kitchen fitters with a vengeance, you would be correct in that assumption. :rolls:

    Know what you mean,
i,ve had the old one out (it was the same machine but made by creda i think ) and it was a mare.
Thengineer says he,ll replace pump next if has to come back – which he will as it leaked on 1st wash after his visit when he said couldn,t find a problem

    Further to situation,
checked this morning and starts leaking when final intake of cold water goes into the machine. Can feel leak about 6 -8 inces from left of machine ( from front on ) i.e either below the soap dispenser or just to right of it. It catches on the rail at the botom and then spreads out.

Have you checked that the soap box is clean? particuarly the conditioner compartment. If this gets gunged up it will overflow.

If the engineer is on a recall then I suggest you let him get on with it. Water leaks appearing at one place may originate from another part of the machine due to level of machine or floor.

just possibly due to high water pressure surging and overflowing…..try throttling the water supply by partially closing the connector-tap,-enough to slow the flow but still fill the machine in a reasonable time.

also the “swilling-over” problem becomes worse if the machine’s not level.

How big a job is it changing outer drum???

Drum over £100, long involved job, not worth it on an Indesit machine, :rolls: besides if it is under five years old then all parts are covered, you only have to pay the Indesit Company labour charges.

Can we rewind a bit on this one? From slagging off kitchen fitters to talking about replacing the drum?….what? 😕

Hold up! Back to “engineer” in this instant if I may? What is this guy currently doing to resolve your problem? Can he not be consulted to return and give a more positive explanation in the fervent hope at least of a positive diagnosis as to the source?

Leaks by definition are relatively easy to find, water…ug!, nasty…wet…trace it back, follow the stream….BINGO!

Not an exacting science it really isn’t so at this point best stay positive I would suggest. 🙂

I never slagged off kitchen fitters,
second engineer out today , couldn’t find leak , leaked again on first wash after he left so phoned and outcome is he wants to change outer drum.
i’m covered so just wondering how big a job.
