    Hi,

I’ve just started to get a problem with my Samsung RSH1DBMH fridge freezer. The freezer doesn’t seem to be getting down to temperature (set to -18). Although the front panel says it’s at -18 it obiously isn’t – icecream and other items are defintely soft! Switching the appliance on/off seems to reset the temp reading – it then displays -4 and then over a period of an hour or so goes back down to -18. After leaving it for another hour or so, I checked again – items are still soft! Turning off/on again shows a reading of -4 again…..

I googled for to see if this was a common problem – picked up lots of hits for R21 problems. So I followed some instructions remove the various screws/covers to get at the fan. There was some ice present but not alot (i.e. the drainage hole wasn’t blocked). I defrosted what ice there was present, reassembled and turned back on. Doesn’t seem to have fixed the problem.

Any idea what might be wrong, and if so, what the resolution is? Does this fridge share the same design issues that the RS21 has?

    Thanks,
    Ian

Re: Samsung RSH1DBMH problem – freezer defrosting

Update – my wife spent some time on the phone yesterday to Samsung. They basically said that the problem affecting the RS21 does not apply to the RSH1, and as the fridge/freezer is out of warranty, tough.

However, my wife persisted and was eventually cut off by the operator when she asked to speak to a supervisor. A few emails and a couple of calls later of complaint, and Samsung rung back and said they would send out an engineer as a goodwill gesture! They should be here on Thursday, so I’ll provide another update once they’ve been.

    Cheers,
    Ian
