ParticipantHi,
Just enquiring if anybody can confirm my suspicions that the temperature probe could be at fault rather than the PCB? I have found a probe advertised which is a ff61619 for about £8
Freezer apparently ok, fridge is too cold (veg freezing)
I understand that fitting one of these probes involves digging out insulation! Is this straightforward or a nightmare?
Thank you in advance for anybody who can help! I confess to being more laundry and dishwasher engineer than fridge/freezer but this is a favour for somebody!

Is it a “frost free” and does the freezer cool the fridge section via a fan? Sorry dont see many candy so dont recognise mod.Dan

If it runs non stop
and the fast freeze neon doesn’t work
and the interior lamp doesn’t work
Then its probably the PCB

Hi Dansta and thanks for your reply.
It does not say it is frost free but it is apparently as I’ve looked the model up.
It is not a cold-air type fridge it is a wet wall type.
There is only a single dial control at the top which is via a pcb and thermistors, so I am assuming it could just be the probe. Obviously it could be the pcb misreading but I said I would try a probe as a first attempt to fix, particularly as it is cheaper than a pcb.
I originally thought it was a straightforward mechanical Danfoss type stat but only when I looked it up did I find out it was a potentiometer and pcb/probe arrangement.
I don’t normally get involved with refrigeration as it is always hassle, but I am doing this as a favour for a friend as a non-expert-but-know-a-bit type of person 😀
Give me a washing machine any day!

Cheers spanner.
Well, the only fault s I know is that the fridge is too cold. Compressor does cut in and out as normal but funny you should mention the fast freeze neon as I am told that this has been coming on.
It was off when I looked at it but it has been coming on.
So maybe a pcb then?

If it’s been going on fast freeze by it’s self, it does sound like a PCB fault

turn the stat knob to off generally if it is pcb fault the machine will continue to run even though it is in the off position.
cheers chris
