    The stencil that rotates above the control knob of the fan oven has broken. The oven control knob operates the oven but we have to “guess” what temperature we have set the oven at.
    Do I have to buy the whole top oven control assembly or can just the small window containing the rotating stencil be obtained as a spare part?
    Where is the best place to buy such a part?

    If you pop onto http://www.bshappliancecare.com , click on NEFF and spare parts, you can enter your model details and have a look at the exploded diagrams of your machine. Looks like all the components are available individually, so shouldn’t dent the wallet too badly.

    It seems I can order just the part I need. If I get stuck when trying to fit the new component into the main switch I may be back on for more help!

    good old Film strip, not cheap and an absolute swine to fit. would advise getting this job done by a pro. Also, take care you order the correct one as, if its a double oven, there are 4 fitted and they are all different. Not only that, if one has snapped the others may soon follow suite.

    Came across this when I was looking at my own old posts (I have the same oven) and thought I’d post a reply.

    I’m now pretty sure that I’ve replaced all four film strips at least once, and I’ve come to the point where I resent the poor design and the cost, so I’ve come up with a low-tech solution.

    Last time I replaced a film strip, I made two paper templates with holes for the control knobs, and marked all of the temperatures on them. Two film strips have recently snapped, and I’m going to use Letraset numbers to mark the temperatures around the outside instead. It’s too early to say if it will be a good solution for the long-term, but I’d rather do this than pay the extortionate prices for the film strips.
