ParticipantHi,
I’m new to the forum, just a question regarding my Hoover VHD 8142 washing machine, less than 12 months old. The machine has recently started acting erratically! it does not appear to be washing on the selected cycles. i.e when i set the short 29 minute programe, it washes for well over an hour, at first i thought it was just my imagination, but i have since timed it, and its not right. Shortly after purchasing the machine, we had to call out an engineer, due to it not draining/rinsing properly, this was apparantly due to not having a sufficient load to enter the spin cycle, i rarely wash single garments because of this now, but when the engineer came he pressed a few buttons simultaneously to reset the machine’s software i think?! does anyone know this procedure, and if so do, they think it will solve my problem, because i like the machine, and it washes very efficiently. Thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards Lee H. 🙂

the preselector timer is faulty its not resettable no amount of button pressing will fix it call hoover,
when you set it to 29 mins the selector is telling the machine you have selected a different program, it needs a new part, dont touch it or you can invalidate your warranty.October 18, 2009 at 5:20 pm #299813leeh

Thanks!! I’ll get onto an engineer 😀 by the way is this a common fault? pretty shoddy considering how long we’ve had it, needing new parts within 12 month!!

I thought you could turn a solid state timer either way, its the mechanical ones that are clockwise only, I had a Hotpoint (WF530T) you could turn it in either direction, the manual backed that up. But my Bosch WFF2000 with a mechanical timer is clockwise only, it even has a device so it is impossible to turn it the other way.

Yes, it definitely turns both ways, and i have always been delicate with it, turning it lightly. I would have a do at fixing it myself if it’s easy? I’m not sure it is still under warranty? we’ve had it around 12 month. I don’t think i’ve broken it. Thanks for all the help 🙂
