I have the spare part and it should be easy to do. The problem is that the top screw that holds the element in place is partially behing the fan. This means (I think) that I need to remove the fan first.
Again, should be easy. I have removed the (clockwise turning) nut from the centre of the fan and was expecting the fan to simply pull out – but it doesn’t!!! Does anyone know why this is the case and what I need to do to get it out?
Have spent far too long on this already – happy if I eventually get it fixed but not if I have to get an engineer out!!!!!
Many thanks

Give the fan shaft a good soaking with WD 40, wait a while and it will usually allow you to pull it off.

The fan element on the bottom oven of our Siemens HB903 double oven has blown four or five times since we bought the oven in 2003, and it has cost me over £100 on average each time to get it repaired. The element blew again this week, and this time the repair man couldn’t get one of the screws off. He advised against using WD-40 as he said he used WD-40 once and it took ages to get rid of the smell. However, he moved the oven out into the room and he was able to fix the element from the back. It cost me £167 this time – I definitely won’t be buying Siemens ovens in future!

The element design in your double undercounter oven has been totally changed now. The half-moon design has been replaced with a total circular element meaning the failure rate has dropped dramatically.
Remember that Siemens single ovens & full size double ovens use a full size circular element. Only the double undercounter ovens used the half moons……which I agree , do suffer failure , earlier than expected .

Put the nut back onto the shaft a little and give it a knock with a nilon or rubber hammer that should loosen it give it a move from side to side and it should come off.
Hope you manage it BigCol.
