We have a Sharp R795 microwave and the top grill element has failed. Replacing this would obviously require the outer casing to be removed but whenever I read about microwave repairs it says anything that requires the cabinet to be opened up should be done by a repair agent.

My question is therefore, by “cabinet” do they mean the actual oven lining or the white outer casing? Logically I would have thought it was ok to remove the outer casing but I’d be grateful for any advice

    Thanks

Hi: They mean the White outer casing. Do not under any circumstances remove this casing unless you are an ENGINEER qualified to do so, there is over 4000 volts at high current floating about inside even long after it’s switched off & this is more than enough to KILL you.
