I have a problem with my just out of warranty dishwasher it as worked fine until about a month ago when the wife said she came home and dishwasher had stopped mid cycle flashing .20 on display .She reset by pressing 2 buttons together and it restarted and finished ok .But it as got progressably worse and now stops 2 or 3 times each cycle always displaying .20.I have rung local shop and guy said this is definatly the control board and quoted me £155.00 to repair i just thought i would sound out problem on here to see what you guys think .
Thanks in advance ToddJanuary 10, 2010 at 5:25 pm #308360Penguin45

Drainage not detected in the time allowed. Partial blockage also check sink spigot if appropriate.

There is a matrix on the r/h side of the machine, with the water level switches attached to it. The hoses connecting the matrix to the sump bowl of the machine can (and do) clog up, causing the pcb to receive false readings. The matrix itself can get gunged up as well.
Power off if you’re going to have a look at this yourself.

Thanks for all help so far i found matrix removed and flushed through and replaced restarted but same symptoms so iturned machine on its back and removeved pipework off all easily accessable parts and flushed through restarted and machine worked fine for a couple of runs thought brilliant sorted .But went back into fault on third run tipped over again ans where you fill salt into machine through cap inside emptied water out of there cos it looked pinkish back upright worked fine for a couple of runs again but again faulted so again tipped over removed pipe of salt container removed water again worked ok, Now to make a fool of myself could salt container have any effect or do you think when it goes onto its back something else clears else where to make it run ok for a while. Please dont laugh at me do i need humouring lol

.20 is time out on drain – it still thinks it’s full of water. You either definitely do have a blockage somewhere, or the level switch is malfunctioning (unusual).

Thanks for your input Penquin if i remove the right hand panel and remove bracket holding what i think you said was level switches and remove pipes blow down them sorry not very professional then replace the machine starts straight away and goes through programme but i cant find any blockage . When another cycle is started it may go halfway through and then stop again with .20 fault again if i remove and do as above again restarts and completes no problem do you think it is pointing at level switch problem or is there somewhere else i may find blockage .But iuf i tip water in it and switch on it pumps out really well in seconds
Thanks for your help so farJanuary 24, 2010 at 7:26 pm #308368Penguin45

When the machine refuses to fill, (With the power off) remove the air hose to each pressure switch in turn. If you hear a click, that switch was holding in the full position, despite the machine being empty. Follow the hose…..

Thanks Penquin
Sorry nt got back sooner but working away Did what advised when machine showed display .20 and would not fill turned off and disconnected hoses neither made a click which i could hear so i blew down through tubes and made sure electrical connections were ok on switches no resistance at all when blowing through re assembled and switched on machine started ok immediately do you think this just be a faulty switch ?January 31, 2010 at 7:19 pm #308370toddjohn

Hi
Thanks for all input so far do you think even though when i disconnect water switches no click is heard but as soon as the tubes are removed then replaced again the machine works fine for a cycle would it be a simple4 fix to replace water switches or switch and if so can i get them easily get them or can i test the switches that are on there anyway to determine if they are faulty
thanks ToddJanuary 31, 2010 at 8:13 pm #308371Penguin45

Test meter. Each switch is normally closed across contacts 1-2. When pressurised contacts 1-3 are closed. When depressurised, back to contacts 1-2.
