Scotty,
I phoned our local Miele agent today to order a few parts and asked them about this while on the phone. They need more info, apparently there are 10 versions of G858, there should be something else after it, like plus, or similar. They think there may be a solenoid or water directing device that alternates the water supply between the upper and lower spray arms, probably stuck in the “upper” position.
If you let me know the rest of the model number, I’ll try and find out a bit more for you.
Dave.

I just spoke to them again, during the conversation I cheekily asked if Miele would supply a parts/info cd.
They do ! And it’s only about £17 😯
Anyway I ordered one which should be here in the next couple of days, so I’ll be able to have a better look then.

I thaught the half load setting was a possibility initially, but it does not seem to be the answer. I would not rule anything out. ❗

The dishwasher does definitley have what is called a “circulation valve” part number is 5268861. It may not be that of course but it must be the obvious choice if the half load option has been eliminated.

Hi Dave
Is this circulation valve a water valve or some kind of solonoid

It’s hard to tell really Scotty, the drawing isn’t that clear and the desription is as I desribed above.
Probably both I would imagine, a valve that is controlled by a solenoid 😕

ParticipantThe AEG circulation valve uses an AKO timer type motor to regulate their “distributor valve”. Perhaps a variation on the theme?

Off the top of my head, Miele dishwashers have a “Top Solo Function” this is similar to 1/2 load, a solenoid near the circulation pump is used to allow or prevent water going to the lower spray arm, this sticks sometimes with debris grease etc, from memory i’ve never had to replace any, just had to remove & spray with wd40 etc to clean & put back in place, hope this is helpful.

ScottSadly no. It’s just a parts identification disk, there is however a technical support telephone number on the paperwork that came with it to activate the disk, it may be worth a try, it’s 01235 233141
