I would first of all remove the rear panel in the freezer, it sounds like a possible defrost problem and the ducts between the freezer and fridge are blocked with ice.

E3 is a “Fridge thermistor open circuit” fault, If you have replaced that one then the other things to check are dry joints on the control pcb, faulty new thermistor ? Or possible faulty pcb.

Cheers Dave, i will check the board for dry joints tonight, it’s my bloody fridge-freezer!!
On the FF71n is there a reason why the air duct should ice up? i’m guessing there must be a flap to control the amount of air up to the fridge?

Yes, a defrost problem in the freezer will cause the ice to build up to such an extent it will block everything. On this model the “flap” in the fridge is a motorised damper which opens and closes to allow less/more air flow from the freezer, may be worth checking this as well.

Dave, 5 stars to you! my 8596p with E3 was dry joints and lifted tracks on the board, a few bits of fuse wire later…. hey presto, all is fine.
    cheers for advice! 😀

😀 No problem, glad it was that and nothing more serious.
