Hi i have been to a Hoover VHD964ZD-80 washing machine with no drum action after customer heard a bang. The fuse on the module has blown and i was wondering what grade it is and why they blow on these machines? Thanks Peter :lesson:

This machine is a 3 Phase motor jobbie I believe? I wasn’t aware that there was a replaceable fuse fitted on the Coreboard? If it’s a glass or ceramic fuse though it’s rating should be stamped on the ends I would have thought? 😕

Thanks for getting back to me the fuse has T6.3AH250V written on it would that mean 6.3 amps?

ok change the fuse , but it will do no good it will blow the pcb, they need to be reconfigured. it will blow the main multi triac lol , i no this after 5 a temps of changing fuses on different m/c s

As I mentioned in my earlier post on the subject, I wasn’t aware there was an in-line fuse on the Coreboard anyway? If there was it would surely protect it, wouldn’t it? 😕

The fuse identified as M in Picture 2, is protecting the Core Board from fire. In case it’s
found burned out, it cannot be replaced but must be replaced the whole Core Board.

    T6.3AH250V

Make sure you replace the fuse with a Time Delay fuse… That i what the ‘T’ stands for.

Hi i went this afternoon and fitted a fuse from connect, when i tried it there was a big bang. I put the old fuse back and told her to call hoover for the 5 year parts guarantee. Thanks for getting back to me though now i know for the future 🙂 . What causes these fuses/modules to go?

Well it turns out that the board and fuse in question relate directly to the 3 phase motor circuit. So my gut feeling is that the motor is stuffed?

    Re: Hoover module fuse

Hi everyone. Just been to one of these. I had read this post previously. I changed the fuse to see what happened. Yes there was a big bang and it blew what someone posted as calling a multi triac, not certain if that’s correct or not.
When the original fuse had blown this hadn’t been damaged, so as mentioned before until we know more my advice is do not replace the fuse.
I relaced the fuse with a glass type time delay fuse. This badly ruptured. I am going to try and buy the ceramic type. Maplin didn’t have.
I didn’t carry out checks on the motor, which I now regret, however if the circuit design is correct this kind of damage shouldn’t occur if the fuse is doing it’s job.
Surely there should be some kind of current limiting in place, the way the fuse ruptured I think there was a large discharge.
I did call our friends at EMW they are still getting their heads around this one apparently.

Hi again. Been doing a bit of research on fuses. Although im not going to replace another one of these the correct fuse type will probably restrict circuit damage.

The part that blows is (IRAMS10UP60B-2 International Rectifier Motion Motor Control, Integrated Power Module developed and optimized for electronic motor control .. so check the motor 🙂
