ParticipantHi guys,
Our 8 year old washer dryer (WJD1357S) has started to play up, last week, a couple of times it has not hit top speed on the spin cycle, and yesterday when spinning some towels it sounded like a couple of cricket balls where being spun as well – a sort of clunking sound and when the cycle finished the missus said the machine was smoking slightly!.
I’ve had a look and the main door seal has a inner plastic lip that has degraded badly and deposited loads of “chewed” bits of the plastic into the towels.
I cleaned out the debris and tried the machine on a short cycle while empty which worked perfectly.
This morning the machine started to fill up as normal, then proceeded to leak out from underneath the machine. I switched off the machine and opened the door and noticed that the fill level had not appeared to reach the door seal.
Reading some of the posts here I suspect the bearings & seals need to be replaced, but before i start i thought i would post the problem here to see if I am going in the right direction
Any pointers or ideas to identify the issue before i get the spanners out would be gratefully appreciated
Many Thanks

The clonking is the drum bearings failing. The drum then runs cock-eyed and cuts through the plastic of the tub, hence the leak. You’ll need the bearing set, drum support spider, tub seal and the tub front half to repair it.
I would suggest that it’s just not a cost-effective repair.
