its a right awkward job. but word to wise the belt has probably snapped due to the drum rear support ring having worn away and collapsed. i’ve been to quite a few like that. when ever ive changed a belt i’ve done it without taking off the fan and passing it under the motor after loosening it.

easy get the fan off…..bend 5-6 of the blades away and get your mole grips on the shaft ……then twist the fan as it is screwed on a thread…as it unscrews the clip pings off…….you then continue to unscrew fan……on refitting rescrew the fan on and push the clip on with a nutspinner or box spanner….hope this helps

normally the rear bearing felt collapses and you have to change the rear panel, belt and drum…….nightmare little devils these!

Looks like their was no need to take the fan off. I got the drum out and did the job with it on. The other option is to unscrew the motor and take it out with the back.
    Thanks,
    Mike.
